Roles Chapter

Tau Beta Pi Chapter: Complete Duties & Roles (2011)

  • Provides student-based leadership for development and implementation of the MindSET program at the local level;
  • Communicates with schools and school district to collect benchmark and other performance data related to the program;
  • Tracks and reports all data related to the program;
  • Required to establish a Chapter Implementation Team to assume responsibility for MindSET program implementation;
  • Responsible for design and implementation of local MindSET program;
  • Organizes and implements student activity modules, during Saturday Engineering sessions;
  • Works with local schools in making arrangements for delivery of teacher professional development modules in the school district;
  • Arranges with HQ for delivery of parent development workshops; note that at least 4-weeks prior notice is required by HQ;
  • Pursues local partnerships with corporations, agencies, and other entities for program development purposes;
  • Arranges and coordinates Short Summer Math Camps, designed to boost preparation and eligibility for Algebra 1 classes, by middle school students who are rising 8th graders in the ensuing Fall semester.
  • Other activities which may be arranged by Chapters to support their K-12 program participants include:
  1. After school math, science, and reading support groups;
  2. Field trips to engineering campus, and other engineering facilities;
  3. Competitions related to math and science;
  4. Scholarships for outstanding seniors;
  5. Mentoring for success.
